The Department of Library and Information Sciences offers Masters in Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc) and Ph.D programmes with the aim of developing efficient information and knowledge managers.

Vision/Programme Learning outcome
This Program focuses on developing skills for organizing information, processing, retrieval and managing libraries and information centres by applying the principles of librarianship and professional ethics. It also enhances the skill of implementing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to various operations of the library.

Masters in Library and Information Sciences (M.Lib.I.Sc)
Masters in Library and Information Sciences (M.Lib.I.Sc) programmeoffers a perfect mix of courses spreading over library management, technology, digital libraries and quantitative studies. The graduates of this program will discover diverse opening in academic sectors, industries (special libraries), public libraries and also in R & D organizations. Further, the graduates with thrust for higher studies can pursue Ph.D programmes to expand their knowledge and skills in the discipline.

Ph.D in Library and Information Sciences
The Doctor of Philosophy in Library and Information Sciencesfocuses on enhancing skills in advanced aspects of research methodology and application of web based technologies in the field of research and libraries. It also empowers researchers in analysing problems related to libraries and conducting research for their solutions and developing scientific attitude in examining research problems at national and global level.

  1. Masters in Library and Information Sciences (M.Lib.I.Sc)
    Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 55% marks {50%in case of SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD} marks from arecognized Indian or foreign University.
  2. Ph.D in Library and Information Sciences
    Master Degree in Library and Information Sciences with minimum of 60% marks {55% forSC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD} from a recognized Indian or foreign University.
    1. The applicant should have a Master degree in the relevant subject with minimum of 60%marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC(NCLYPWD) as detailed above for each programme.
    2. Candidate must have qualified UGC/CSIR/ASRB-NET, ICMR-JRF, GATE, GPAT, DBT-BET and JEST (Physics) with existing validity and must have some financial assistancesuch as UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT-JRF, financial assistance from Govt. agencies {Like RajivGandhi National Fellowship (RGNF), Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) etc.} /Industnal Fellowship or working in CUPB projects.
    3. The valid UGC/CSIR/ASRB-NET, ICMR-JRF, GATE, GPAT, DBT-BET & JEST (Physics),Qualified Candidates will be exempted from test, however they have to apply in the CUCET-2020 and appear in interview.
    4. The cut-off marks to qualify the entrance test will be 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD).Candidates scoring less than 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) marks will not be considered.
    5. Candidate must ensure that, they should have all the original documents of theirrespective qualifying examinations at the time of interview and verification of Documents/Registrations.
    6. For the Admission in Ph.D. Programme candidate must fulfill the eligibility criteria on the date of verification of Documents/Registrations.
